Potty Talk

i never thought i would be posting about "potty talk" i mean i am NOT in the midst of potty training anyone and Jordan has forbidden me from sharing ANYTHING that could possibly be deemed "private, not for public" on the blog about her soooooo...this is about ME (lucky you)

Paul and i are in the market shopping in the produce dept. picking up some "Broccoli Woky" (cut perfectly, bagged and ready to toss in the wok) when a cute blond in her 20's (CB20's) comes up to us...

CB20's: can you help me? i have a question about avocados
Me: sure
CB20's: if i am making dinner on Wednesday how should i pick out the avocados?
Me: well just try and pick some that aren't too squishy and you should be OK
(and then it hits me, this horrible smell, someone farted and it was NOT me)
CB20's: (not seeming to notice the stench) great, thanks i will do that! i appreciate your help!

as soon as she is out of ear shot i look at Paul and say....cuz i CAN'T not say SOMETHING:

Me: dude, she totally farted
Paul: really are you sure?
Me: unless it was YOU
Paul: no it wasn't me (and it hits him) whoa, that's bad!!!

we kind of shake our heads and gag a little and go on shopping...

yea we are totally mature like that.

we get home and i am unloading the groceries and Paul is standing there helping and i smell something...BAD...the same smell i smelt in the market and CB20's was NOT in my kitchen so i say:

Me: YOU DID fart in the market!!!
Paul: ew no, i really didn't, why would i lie
Me: well it smells the same and it was NOT me
Paul: oh yeah i smell that too
(then i realize it is the Broccoli Woky)
Me: oh my gosh it's the Broccoli Woky!!
Paul: (sniffs it) oh yea it totally is!
Me: (realizing it was NOT CB20's) OH NO! she is probably thinks it was ME!! AND now she is probably home blogging about it. (i just pray she did not have a camera phone to take a pic of the "farter" in the market)

oh man...i. am. totally. lame.

THEN later that night we decide to go to Denny's...yea you heard me, fine dining. We order and then Paul gets up to go wash his hands. we are seated close to the bathroom so i can see him walk in and out of the bathroom. when he gets back he reports:

Paul: they have auto sensor hand soap dispensers
Me: cool (not really cool, but how am i suppose to respond?)
Paul: yea BUT you have to turn on the water AND crank the paper towel dispenser, so what's the point?
Me: yea, you are all about the germs...you need help (OK i was just thinking it i actually said:) hmm weird (cuz again, what should my response have been?)

and i got up and went to the bathroom to wash my hands and came back and we enjoyed a lovely meal at Denny's. as we were finishing our meal i noticed a girl walking to the bathroom and was shocked as i saw her enter the wrong door...well i was shocked for a minute and then i came to realization the i HAD USED THE MEN'S ROOM!! i had gone in, washed my hands and came right back out and NO ONE said anything to me. i told Paul what happened and he just LAUGHED at me, he had not noticed.

wow. i. REALLY. am. lame.

Street Fair

A few weekends ago was our towns annual street fair. There is sooo much to talk about. I have not been shy about saying (over and over) how i feel that i have landed on another planet since moving here almost 2 years ago. We only live about 2 hours from "home" but let me tell you, what a difference 2 hours make honey! ANYWAY having all of the interesting people in this town gathered in one place was people watching HEAVEN for me....you did see this weeks Wordless Wednesday ('nuff said). My in laws who i love, i mean L O V E big red puffy heart love, came to town to go to the street fair with us and we had a fantastic visit!!

Jordan with Grandpa and Grandma (Paul's folks)
first stop....super slide!!
video
next stop rock climbing wall. Jordan has lots of experience in climbing at my brother's gym...BUT it has always been our suspicion that Grandpa Hal does WAY more work than she does, actually PULLING her up the wall...so we were REALLY cheering her on encouraging her to finish after she dropped the first time up the wall without much effort...so ignore my lame yelling...it is soooooo embarrassing, i seriously need to shut up while recording.
video
mmmm smoothies...much needed (and YUM) in the heat of the day
it was so hot that we came home and jumped in the pool. Grandpa bought Jordan a remote control boat for the pool...i think daddy and Grandpa played with it more than Jordan.
oh look Jordan DID get a turn!!

PS. i do feel blessed to live here. i know this is where we need to be for Jordan, i am grateful my in laws are renting us this lovely home to live in and i am super thankful for the changes they are making to it as we do live here to make it even better (did you see my new floors? YAY!). i hope you know i am just being silly when i complain...only because honestly it is VERY different from ANYWHERE i have EVER lived before....but i am trying to make a home out of it while we are here.

Thursday Thirteen #11

More Thursday Thirteen HERE

This weeks Thursday Thirteen is ALL ABOUT the looooooooooong journey to my FABULOUS new floor. A BIG thanks to my inlaws for "gettin' er dun" YAY!!

#1 Aug 29, 2007 Big Daddy decides to make Mamarazzi happy by starting the floor project. After a few falls (probably due to the awesome pattern of the peel and stick linoleum, causing dizziness) and wanting to open up the kitchen/dining/family room area we needed to tear out the odd platform (step) that was the dining area. We discovered the original floor AND another layer of ugly linoleum....and discovered it would be a much bigger project than we thought it would be.#2 August 30, 2007 our AC decided to die and leak all over the hallway so we ripped out the carpet, when it was replaced, thinking the new floor would go all the way down the hallway...lovely bare concrete (don't be jealous). #3 September 12, 2007 my dining table is still sitting in my living room and J and Emma enjoy chocolate fondue after giving each other make overs @ a sleep over
#4 September 28, 2007 yep...still not much progress

#5 Big Daddy busts butt to get the floor out so the table can go back for J's new school new friends sleepover Sept. 30, 2007 (it took about 3 hrs...hmm procrastinate much?)#6 The way it HAD looked ever since #7 May 7, 2008 day one of the NEW FLOOR begins scraping up old floor #8 laying down the new stuff in dining area #9 the hallway #10 the grout#11 finished dining area

#12 the kitchen finished #13 the hallway into Jordan's bathroom FINISHED!!

so we still need to put in the baseboards and i think it will be doing bead board in the dining area. but for now i am just REALLY happy to have the ugly floors out and the concrete in the hallway covered...so i can wait for it to be totally perfect! the color is really pretty but doesn't show well in these pics...in the pics it looks kind of pink to me...it's not, pink may be my fave color but we limit the pink to Jordan's room. So YES it was worth the wait...i really love it!

Wordless Wednesday

sorry can't do THIS one wordless...this is a REAL person, that i REALLY chased down and took a snap of. clickety the pic to biggefy...the humor is in the details. You. Are. Welcome.

200th Post part one and a Winner!

the response to our ASK ME!! post to help us celebrate our 200th post was awesome and a little overwhelming...i was shocked that y'all asked 143 questions...CRAAAAAZY! anyway we have been working on getting them all answered and are going to have to make it a weekly segment for a little while (i know, calm down i can already sense your utter excitement). Today we are answering the 16 questions that SuperCoolMom asked. i big ready puffy heart SuperCoolMom, have you checked out her blog yet?

SuperCoolMom asked:

1. Share the story of your romance
Paul tells it like this…and he is close enough to correct that I will give you his version, mostly cuz he thinks he is funny and well, I agree. Girl emails boy, boy sees girls profile thinks she is hot and thinks there must be a mistake. Boy emails back. Girl emails again gives boy phone number after a few emails are shared. Boy calls girl, gets girl's voice mail many times. Boy has torrid love affair with girl’s voice mail for several weeks. Boy and girl finally meet, have a great time. Girl makes boy dinner and wins him over with her amazing culinary skills and sparkling green eyes. Boy and girl date for a while. Girl dumps boy (it' wasn't REALLY a dumping). Boy heartbroken. But boy and girl remain friends. Girl dates a few other boys, none of them seem “quite right" to girl. Girl prays about marriage proposal from other boy. Girl hears BOY’S name loud and clear. The song "Can't fight this feeling" by REO Speedwagon, plays over and over in her head. Girl finally comes to her senses and tells boy, “I am suppose to marry YOU!.” Boy says, “it’s about time you figured that out”. Boy and girl get married and live happily ever after.

2. What’s your favorite self-indulgence?
Spa days…pedi, mani,, facial, massage…lunch with girlfriends shopping…ahhhh so good. But I haven’t had a self-indulgence for a little over 3 yrs now…boo!

3. Most embarrassing moment?
Rocky 5, packed theater, opening night. Second row seats. Climbed over first row to go get treats, came back and had hands full climbing back over seat, slipped dumped coke and popcorn all over self and everyone one in 1st and 2nd rows…I was a teenager…it still pains me to this very day.

4. Mamarazzi’s first kiss: who? What? When? Where? Etc.
REAL kiss?? Spin the bottle. 1987 his name is Reggie, he was Mr. Gilroy 1988 for body building. He was orange but I didn’t care. His kiss made my stomach do that flip floppy thing…it was AWESOME!!

5. Where’d you learn your cute hair skillz?
I am not sure. Jordan grows her hair really long every year and then cuts 12 inches to donate to Locks of Love in the summer. When her hair is REALLY long it gets tangled easily. So I just started thinking of different ways to do it…and people started stopping me asking how I did her hair. So we kept coming up with new styles…truth is we BOTH love the attention…tee hee.

6. What is your favorite escape?
I love going to the beach. I would love a week at a house on the beach so I could spend my days napping in the sun, reading, and splashing in the ocean.

7. Tell about a childhood pet
I only had one pet growing up. She was a beagle named Foxy Lady. We only had her for a little while, long enough to have pictures taken with her, and have her clean a box of spilled cheerios off of the kitchen floor. I really don’t remember her, just that we once had a puppy and my mom was allergic to her and she went away (the puppy not my mom).

me and Foxy Lady

8. When I was little I had a crush on Jimmy because my sis took Donny. She got to be Ginger and I was MaryAnn. She was Marsha and made me be Jan. but I realllllly wanted to be Samantha. Who did you want to be? Who did you have a crush on?
Lame I know but I wanted to be this lady from church. Her name was Diane T. and she was beautiful, like Marie Osmond, but fancier. She always wore totally-matched-out-put-together-with-perfection-and-style outfits shoes, dress, stockings and accessories... she was awesome. I had a huge crush on David Cassidy. My sister and I always fought over who was going to marry who when The Monkeys came on…"I call Davey Jones”.

9. What do you want to learn next?
I would love to learn to sew…I have several home projects I would like to do that sewing would be helpful to know.

10. Tell us about your collection. Each of you please.
Mamarazzi collects: necklaces and unique perfume bottles
Big Daddy collects: Oakley sunglasses and confiscated items that inmates make, like weapons and lighters and such (they are super crafty…its impressive stuff)
J collects: horses, webkins and clip-on earrings

11. What is your latest obsession?
Hmmmm, right now I am working out the kinks to my latest business venture. So I am obsessing about ways to market myself and get things rolling. I am doing a party planning thing for girls…think Club Libby Lu comes to you!! Its called “Pink!...parties for Girls”. i am almost done with my blog for it...i will show you once i have it all figured out.

12. What magazines do you subscribe to?
Girl’s Life, Ensign, The New Era, The Friend and Family Fun

13. Where would you build your fantasy vacation home?
Maui…no doubt!!

14. Describe your worst date ever.
I was in my late 20’s my co worker set me up with a guy on a blind date. I agreed to meet him at a restaurant. We were enjoying our dinner when all of the sudden I look down and see his “friend”. I look at him and say, “not impressed”. He laughs and puts it away. I remain calm and a few minutes later excuse myself to the bathroom. I end up going into the kitchen and ask if I could exit there after explaining my situation, they let me. I could see him through the window as I drove away. He called a few more times, sent flowers to my work and was all around creepy. My friends husband had a “talk” with him and I never heard from him again.

15. Late night snack choice?
Cereal….always cereal.

16. Store you can’t live without?
TARGET!! I am pretty sure I would die.

if you made it this far and read the whole thing i am super impressed. let me know so i can give you a gold star!

oh i need to announce the winner...i had to do it on random.org. since the response was soooo overwhelming. i had never used their system before and it was a lot of fun. ANYWAY since y'all kind of came and went with questions i composed them all in word and categorized them by blogger and numbered them 1-143. THEN i put the numbers in and random.org gave me 106 for the winner...so the person who asked the 106th question (as it appeared in my word doc) is Leslie from Barefooted Bandits...YAY, email me your snail mail so i can send your gift card to Target!!

Happy Mother's Day Y'all!

When I was a little girl all I ever dreamed of being when I grew up was a mom. I am soooo thankful for the beautiful examples of wonderful mothers that I had in both my mom and my Mima. They are both truly amazing women and I am so blessed to have them in my life. Jordan has given me such an amazing gift, because of her I am a mom and I take that role very seriously. Every decision I make in my life is 100% wrapped up in how it will effect her, and our family. She is my world and the blessings I receive daily from being her mom are beyond measure. Thank you Paul for bringing this truly amazing child into my life; it is better and brighter because of the two of you, my reason for everything! TRUE happiness is being a Mom, however mother hood finds you! My heart is full, my life is blessed...I am ready for MORE!

PS. thanks mom for NEVER saying, "I hope you have a child just like you" to me, cuz seriously Jordan is an easy kid and I don't think I could handle raising a kid like I was. You. Are. My. Hero.

Cooking with Jordan! episode 5

Time for another episode of Cooking with Jordan. You can view earlier episodes by clicking on these links Preview, OneDishMexican, GrilledChicken, Cooking(?) with Daddy, TortelliniSoup and TeriyakiChicken . The whole point to the cooking lessons for J is to show her some basic easy meals, menu planning, following a recipe and to help her become more comfortable in the kitchen...this is not anything totally gourmet or culinary school worthy.
Spicy Buffalo Chicken Bites
create breading with fiber one cereal, pringles and spices
dip in sauce, dip in breading and bake
super cute video demonstrating how easy it all is
video
yummy tossed in a salad
J is CRAZY for Spicy food!

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
1. make a breading using Fiber One bran cereal (original), and Pringles Light Fat Free Potato Crisps, Barbecue flavor...season with a little garlic powder and black pepper.

4. roll in breading
5.Lay the battered nuggets on the baking sheet.
6.Place in the oven, and bake for 10 minutes.

We liked our chicken tossed in a salad with either ranch or blue cheese dressings. Jordan and her BFF Emma liked their salad on the side and dipped their nuggets in dressing. We were ALL really surprised by not only how easy this was to make but by how yummy AND crispy they were. It felt like we were eating a REALLY naughty deep fat fried food...try it, i bet you like it too (and be sure to let me know if you do)!!

Wordless Wednesday

Awwww...puppy love! (no we did not bring puppy home)
More Wordless Wednesday HERE and HERE
PS i am WAY behind on my google reader. i am trying to get to y'all, life has been busy. sorry.

It's FINALLY Happening!!

I can hardly contain my excitement. I was going to wait until Friday to post about this...but i just can't. If you have been a loyal reader of this blog then you know how long i have been waiting for this. You know how much i want this. After living here for almost two years and going through a few different stages of incomplete (oh i am so excited) we are FINALLY getting a new floor! YES!! You heard me (excuse me as i do a little happy dance). So yeah...buh bye Brady Bunch peel and stick linoleum that is coming up all over my kitchen, i will not miss you! and buh bye bare concrete slab in my hallway...you will not be missed either!! and HELLOOOOOOO beautiful tile floor. i cannot wait to post pics...

My in laws were here this weekend and made a few miracles happen...scheduling the floor to be done was the biggest, replacing my kitchen sink faucet that constantly drips was another. They own this house we are so blessed to be living in (and renting dirt cheap). If it were not for them we would not be able to live in this area making big things happen for Jordan's life ( i can only imagine if we had never taken the leap of faith and moved here what her life would be like). It has been such a huge blessing, i don't share that enough, i truly am grateful. I feel bad about always complaining about the floor being so ugly. I feel bad that i have allowed said floor to keep me from inviting people into my home. I love to entertain. We have a HUGE pool and lots of fun stuff here at our house and i am ashamed to say that i have not been the hostess i have always been in my previous life, because of the floor. It is stupid. AND the really nutty thing is that as soon as i decided NOT to let it keeping me from living my life (lame i know) plans were made for the new floor to be put in. CRAZY how that happens right? SO AWESOME!

So they are coming to lay the GORGEOUS tile on Wed...by Friday it will be all done and we will be able to walk on it. I am not even freaked about not being able to use my kitchen...Taco Bell and $5 Caesar's Pizza here we come (i know you have missed us, it has been so long)!!

I actually went to bed at 9pm...it is 1am and i am wide awake. Again. OH how i wish i could make friends with sleep...that would be awesome! One miracle at a time!

as long as i am up and blogging Crazy Mama of 6 is having a contest and i wanna play so i want you to play too. she is hosting it for MOONVINE ORGANICS who is giving away three prizes. so cool! go HERE on CrazyMama's blog for the details.

Don't you LOVE it?!?

***UPDATED*** Jordan REALLY wants to help with the drawings for all the fun prizes. SO we will do that most likely tomorrow night or Saturday. i can't wait to send off some love to the lucky winners. i REALLY appreciate all of the suggestions and interest people put into helping us come up with a new name for our blog...y'all ROCK!!

so the ever so awesome Nap Warden designed my blog template for me. i told her exactly what i wanted; a little Jordan look alike fairy floating by on a dandelion seed and this is what she came up with. do you see the blue eyes and freckles? OH and look, the signature style part in her hair...ADORABLE!! we are loving it. Nap Warden and i went back and forth fine tuning the design and she was able to come seriously close to perfect! Jordan loves it (especially the FROG in her pocket, J's idea and a sweet touch no?), Paul loves it and i BIG red puffy heart love it! it is crisp and clean and bright...soooo different from our old template huh? i love that it is custom and made just for ME. so do you think you can get use to this?

PLEASE change your blog rolls to say Dandelion Wishes instead of TheVasquez3. IF you have my name as the link on your blog PLEASE change that to either Dandelion Wishes OR my new pseudo name Mamarazzi. i am coming up in WAY too many google searches...it is a blessing and a curse to have a unique name. ANYWAY i would REALLY appreciate the changes. i will keep an eye out and remind you if you forget to make the change...you. are. welcome.
soooooooo what do you think?

if you are digging the style here and want to do a bloggy redo go see Nap Warden at nwdesigns her prices are pretty good and she is FAST!
